Nathan Smith is a conductor based in the North West of England. In his own words, he absolutely adores the LGN Community Choir and is thrilled to have been their conductor since April 2022.

Nathan currently holds roles as Conductor of Burnley Orchestra, Artistic Director and founder of Occento Choir, and has formerly conducted Preston Orpheus Choir and the Chapel Choir at Rossall School.

Nathan graduated from Durham University with First-Class Honours in Music (Bachelor of Arts). In 2022, he completed a research MA on the later romantic style of Sir Arthur Sullivan, which received the accolade: ‘There is little doubt that this work will contribute considerably to the ongoing rehabilitation of Sullivan’s operas.’

Since completing his degree, Nathan has been working as a répétiteur and conductor. He has assisted Helen Harrison at Blackpool Symphony Orchestra and more recently at Preston Opera. He is also a répétiteur at Preston Opera and has accompanied productions with Savoynet and Peak Opera at Buxton Opera House. Currently, Nathan is privately studying with Sian Edwards.

With each rehearsal Nathan brings his expertise and passion to the LGN Community Choir and looks forward to an inspiring season ahead.
