Nathan was appointed MD of the LGN in April 2022. He is a graduate of Durham University, achieving a First Class Honours in Music (Bachelor of Arts) and is currently continuing his studies at Durham working for his MA. Nathan began Conducting Studies in his second year at university and his talent was soon noticed when he achieved the highest mark in his year for conducting. On completing his degree Nathan has been working as a repetiteur and also conductor.

In March 2020 Nathan musically directed Mendelssohn's Elijah, in Durham Cathedral, a collaboration between Durham University Choral society and Durham Opera Ensemble. The evening won numerous awards: Best Musical Director, Best Concert and a Lifetime Achievement Award for Music.

Although Nathan is especially interested and inspired by late nineteenth-century English choral repertoire especially the music of Sullivan, Parry & Stanford et al, his tastes are not limited to this period in music as he enjoys music from a wide breadth of genres and is especially pleased to be leading a choir whose motto is ‘singing for fun and friendship’

Nathan is currently based in Preston and as well as the LGN he also conducts St. Mary’s Church Choir and assists Helen Harrison at Preston Opera. As well as being a talented conductor Nathan is also an accomplished pianist, organist and singer.
