Janet Fallding - Chair
The love of music was instilled in me from a very early age listening to pieces such as The1812 overture & West Side story being blared out on the record player by my dad.
I was encouraged to start the violin & piano at secondary school & was eventually part of an ensemble that entered the Liverpool Music Festival -
winning the top prize in the category for ensembles 3 years running.
I then went on to join the Merseyside Youth Orchestra for 4 years – in which we played all over the country, played for the Queen at the opening of the Mersey Tunnel and the highlight was when we represented Great Britain at The International Festival of Youth Orchestras in Lausanne in 1972
Music for me then took a back seat - even though my dad wanted me to study music at university, but I had to follow my heart and go into nursing.
Roll on to 2008 and seeing a poster regarding a new choir being set up by Olwyn I decided to give it a go and right from the start was hooked back into music – taking on the role as secretary for 15 years & then onto the Chair when we are at an exciting time being under the baton of Nathan who is taking the LGN to heights we never envisaged we would attain.
